After Saina Nehwal, Vijender Singh too wants Padma Bhushan

A day after the Union Sports Ministry decided to recommend ace shuttler Saina Nehwal’s name for the Padma Bhushan award, Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh too has spoken out and has asked the Boxing Federation to recommend his name to the Sports Ministry for Padma Bhushan.”Have told Indian Boxing Federation President to recommend my name to Sports Ministry for Padma Bhushan,” Vijender told ANI on Monday.Vijender Singh had received the Padma Shri award in 2010 and is now eligible to be nominated for another Padma award.However, he also said that it is incorrect on the part of players to ask for awards.last_img
