Arsenal target Draxler told he ‘will never play for Wolfsburg again’ – Reports

first_imgArsenal have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of long-term target Julian Draxler, with reports in Germany claiming the midfielder is set to leave Wolfsburg in January.According to Bild, the 23-year-old has been dropped from the side to face Bayern Munich and has been told he will not play for the Bundesliga club again. The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for Draxler even since missing out on signing him in the summer. After just 12 months at Wolfsburg, Draxler asked to leave for a ‘top European club’ during the off season but was eventually made to stay. However, he now looks set to get the move he desires, with reports in Germany claiming his Wolfsburg career is effectively over.Speculation over Draxler’s future has been rife over recent weeks, with Juventus also thought to be chasing his signature.Meanwhile, having denied Draxler’s request to leave in the summer, sporting director Klaus Allofs recently admitted Wolfsburg may now consider selling the playmaker. And it seems the rumours have turned his head, with club chiefs growing tired of his negative behaviour and apparently banning him from the first-team squad.Wolfsburg fans have also turned on their star man, with Draxler receiving boos from supporters in recent games for his apparent lack of loyalty to the club.“I don’t think I need to tell anybody what [being booed] does to a person – It certainly doesn’t help you,” the Germany international said recently.“I can understand the fans though – they have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that.”Draxler joined Die Wölfe from Schalke for a club-record £25.5million in 2015, and it is claimed they will demand at least £30m from any club who wish to sign him in the upcoming transfer window. 1 Draxler was dropped to the bench for Wolfsburg’s previous league game – a 3-2 defeat to Hertha Berlin last_img
