first_imgPosition Overview:Makes presentations to student groups. Counsels students andparents regarding the admissions process. Examines and assessesacademic records of students to determine eligibility forgraduation or for admission to college, university, or graduateschool. Reads course prerequisites, degree equivalents, andaccreditation of schools, and ascertains grade-point averages toestablish students’ qualifications for admission, transfer, orgraduation. Compares transcripts of courses with school entrance ordegree requirements and prepares evaluation form listing coursesfor graduation. Represents the institution in recruitment of newstudents and participates in the evaluation of applicants. Developsand implements a plan to recruit a diverse pool of potentialapplicants; attends recruiting events, open houses, fairs, orinformation sessions. Provides information to potential applicantsvia phone, email, mail, or in person. Interviews applicants,reviews and evaluates files, and makes recommendations onacceptance or denial. Explains evaluations to students. Refersstudents with academic discrepancies to proper department heads forfurther action. Prepares list of accepted applicants or of degreecandidates and submits it for approval. Issues registration permitsand records acceptances and fees paid. Performs related duties,such as preparing commencement programs and compiling studentaverages for honors. May advise students concerning theireligibility for teacher certificates. May specialize in evaluationof transfer students’ records. Handles moderately complex issuesand problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. Typicallynon-exempt and does not supervise other staff (but may supervisestudents). Typically reports to a department head or manager.Job Level:Scope & Impact: This position is an entry levelprofessional position, with actions that may have a measurableimpact on operations within a work group.Communication & Interaction : Routinely answersquestions and provides information and data requested byindividuals within or outside of work area.
