Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Superkings : Match Preview

first_imgAdvertisement“Down, but not out”. Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians won’t shy away from coming all guns blazing in their forthcoming encounter against the defending champions Chennai Superkings. Two of the most successful franchises of the Indian Premier League are set to lock horns against each other at the Wankhade stadium in Mumbai, and we all are aware of how passionate fans of both the franchises have.It has not been one of the rosiest of starts for the three time champions Mumbai Indians this time in the IPL. Despite winning a thriller against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Mumbai side is back to square one after losing the subsequent match against the Kings XI Punjab. Facing off against Chennai at this stage is not the ideal situation the Mumbai would have wanted at this stage with the side led my MS Dhoni yet to lose a single match, making them the only team to do so thus far in this edition of the Vivo IPL.The home side will look to tick all the boxes in terms of their team combination which still does not seem to look settled yet. Despite looking in a good nick, Rohit Sharma and co haven’t capitalised on the starts that they have got while batting. There still seems to be a question mark looming over Kieron Pollard’s place in the team. With the West Indian not being used as a bowler, it will be interesting to see if Mumbai can squeeze the young and dynamic Ishan Kishan in the playing XI in place of Pollard and get in and Indian bowler in place of either Malinga or Mitch to balance the four foreign players. With Bumrah and Malinga along with Mitchell McClenaghan and Pandya brothers, Mumbai seems to have a balanced bowling attack. Moreover, all of us have been a witness of Mumbai’s tendency to bounce back from similar situations. With Dhoni coming back into form, the Superkings look invincible and at times almost unbeatable, also with the shrewd captaincy from Dhoni and the abundance of experience in T20s that players such as Bravo, Raina, Jadeja,Tahir, Raydu and Watson have combined with the talent of youngsters such as Deepak Chahar make them one of the most formidable units of the Vivo IPL 2019. With all said and done, it will be naive to rule out an absolute edge of the seat entertainer between two of the most followed sides of IPL.Predicted Playing XI:(Mumbai): Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock(Wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga(Chennai): MS Dhoni(c&wk), Shane Watson, Ambati Raydu, Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir Advertisementlast_img read more
